How Much Does Shipping Cost?

We currently air post direct to customer from our factory. One of our goals for 2025 is to start container shipments to the UK and USA and then ship last mile locally. This will speed delivery and reduce shipping cost. We are charging post for this campaign after the campaign closes. If we can get 500 cases going via the USA and UK, we can use sea freight and reduce the freight cost for everyone. If this isn’t possible, you have our commitment that we will pass on the actual postal costs without adding any margin. You will pay only what the postman charges us. We have commercial postal accounts and the rates are very good. That said, if you want the best possible rates, share this Kickstarter with your friends so we can ship our first sea freight containers!

Are Mechi Cases covered by Warranty?

Mechi cases are warrantied for twelve months from the date of delivery for manufacturing defects or if the case breaks with reasonable normal use. This is a back to base warranty, however in most cases if you can send us photos of the damage we can send parts that you can easily fit with only a screwdriver if a component gets damaged.

How long will it take to get my case?

We will manufacture cases on a first come, first served basis. We promise to use a minimum of 50% of our manufacturing capacity to service our Kickstarter backers. Our goal is that every backer gets their case by March 2025, however if you are early in the queue you should get you case much sooner. We are already making 10-12 cases per day with our pilot production setup, this Kickstarter is about rapidly growing that so we can deliver our new Mechi+ cases more quickly.

How strong are Mechi Cases?

The sides of our cases are made from anodized aluminum extrusion. The hinge and top frame are made from the best ABS plastic we can get. The top plates and back panel are made from Matt Black laser cut acrylic. Our fixings are either stainless steel or zinc plated steel. Our MechiMax modules are made from ABS plastic and most have Carbon Fibre composite spines. All of our materials are designed to withstand high temperatures.

Why choose Mechi?

Mechi is a reusable system. When you buy a Mechi case frame or component, you are investing in a system. Unlike foam, which once cut, cannot be changed, with Mechi you are buying a set of modular components that can be used and reused over and over. Unlike magnets, you don’t have to do any work on your minis before you can put them into your case. If you decide you want a different case layout, you can pull the modules out and use them to build whatever case you need. You can reconfigure a Mechi case in minutes. You can hot-load most Mechi Modules without having to take the minis out of the modules. Although Mechi parts are a little more expensive upfront, you can use them over and over for years, in many different case designs. You are paying a bit extra for quality materials like anodized aluminum and carbon fibre composites, but in the long run quality is its own reward.

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
